Living with pit bulls means big energy, big love, and a whole lot of chaos. Our house is loud, busy, and rarely calm — but it’s also full of laughter, loyalty, and moments that make every messy day worth it.
I’m a proud pitty mom to Ruby, Dozer, and Daffodil. They’re teenage puppies with opinions, strength, and zero concept of personal space. They wrestle like it’s a full-contact sport, nap hard when they finally crash, and somehow always circle back to check on Mom in the middle of it all.
This isn’t a “perfect routine” post.
It’s real life — what works in our loud, loving home — and how we embrace the chaos instead of fighting it.
If you’re living that pit bull mom or dad life too, welcome. 💛
🍽️ Feeding Time in a Real Pitty Household
Here’s something that surprises a lot of people: my pit bulls don’t inhale their food.
They’re calm grazers. They wander, eat slowly, pause for pets, and then wander back. That didn’t happen by accident — it came from early training, keeping feeding time relaxed, and choosing food that actually works for their bodies.
🐕 The Food We Feed (And Why It Matters)
High-quality dog food is a priority in our house. It’s the foundation of everything else — energy levels, digestion, coat health, and even behavior.
Why we chose this food:
- Quality ingredients we trust
- Supports steady energy without crazy spikes
- Gentle on growing puppy bellies
- Fewer issues that need “fixing” later
I’ll be honest — feeding high-quality food isn’t the cheapest option. But it was a very intentional choice for us.
Because we feed well, we don’t rely heavily on extra supplements or constant add-ons. Over time, that balance helps offset the cost — fewer digestive issues, less trial-and-error, and a simpler routine overall.
It’s not about perfection or doing what everyone else does. It’s about choosing what works best for your dogs and building from there.
This is what we feed👉 Merrick Real Beef and Sweet Potato
🦠 The Probiotic We Use
Even with good food, puppies are still puppies. Stress, growth spurts, and busy days can throw digestion off.
Why we keep a probiotic in our routine:
- Helps keep bellies consistent
- Supports gut health during high-energy stages
- Easy to use without overdoing it
This is what we use 👉 Nutramax Proviable Probiotics for Dogs and Cat
🥣 The Exact Bowls We Use
I don’t use dog feeding mats — and that surprises people too.
For our house, they just didn’t make sense. What did work was choosing bowls that are easy to clean, stable, and durable enough for daily use.
What I look for in bowls:
- Easy to sanitize
- Don’t slide everywhere
- Simple, no-nonsense design
This is what we use 👉 Stainless Steel Dog Food and Water Bowl
🦷 Treats, Chews & Letting Dogs Be Dogs
Chewing isn’t a problem in our house — it’s a need. The key is giving dogs the right outlets.
🦷 Whimzees Dental Chews
These are a staple around here.
Why we use them:
- Help keep teeth clean
- Dogs love them
- Easy daily habit
This is what we use 👉 WHIMZEES Wellness Value Box Dog Dental Treats
🥩 Human-Grade Treats We Trust
Treats are a big deal in our house — but quality matters.
Why we stick to human-grade treats:
- Cleaner ingredient lists
- Better digestion
- Less guilt when rewarding often
- Lots of options for even the picky eaters
This is what we use 👉 Full Moon All Natural Human Grade Dog Treats
🦴 Heavy-Duty Chew Toys (Built for Real Jaws)
My dogs chew with intention. Cheap toys don’t last — and that just leads to frustration.
What works best for us:
- Heavy-duty materials
- Designed for aggressive chewers
- Safe for regular use
- After days of hard chewing, they are still solid
This is what we use 👉 Indestructible Stick Dog Toy – Lifetime Replacement
🧠 Channeling Energy (Not Eliminating It)
Our dogs aren’t calm angels — they’re energetic, growing puppies. Instead of trying to erase that, we work with it.
🧩 Puzzle Toys & Enrichment
Mental stimulation helps burn energy in ways walks alone can’t.
Why these help:
- Give their brains a job
- Reduce boredom-driven chaos
- Great for indoor days
This is what we use 👉 KONG Gyro – Interactive Dog Toy for Treat Dispensing
Some days it’s puzzle toys.
Some days it’s wrestling on the floor.
Both count.
🐾 Paw Protection for Busy, Active Dogs
Between running, playing, roughhousing, and everyday life, paws take a beating — especially with changing weather and rough surfaces.
My pups aren’t just pets — they’re also trained service dogs. That means their paws need to hold up through long days, different environments, and all kinds of terrain. Keeping their paws protected helps them stay comfortable, focused, and ready to do their jobs — while still being goofy puppies at home.
🐾 Paw Protection Cream We Use
This is why we keep a paw protection cream in our routine. It helps create a protective barrier against heat, cold, and rough surfaces without slowing them down or making a mess.
Why we use it:
- Helps protect and soothe dry or rough paws
- Supports recovery after active days
- Easy to apply without stress or fuss
This is what we use 👉 Musher’s Secret Dog Paw Wax
🧼 Cleaning a House That’s Always in Motion
This is real pitty mom life — dog hair, muddy paws, slobber, repeat. Between three active dogs and everyday living, messes happen constantly. The goal in our house isn’t spotless — it’s safe, livable, and manageable.
🧼 The Floor Cleaner I Use
I need something that actually works and is safe for dogs. With paws on the floor all day, I’m careful about what we use — harsh chemicals just aren’t an option here.
Why this cleaner earns its spot:
- Pet-safe for everyday use
- Cuts through muddy paw prints and daily grime
- Doesn’t leave harsh residue behind
This is what we use 👉 O-Cedar Hard Floor Cleaner
🧴 Enzyme Cleaner for Accidents & Real Life
Even with good routines, accidents happen — especially with puppies, busy days, or rainy weather. That’s where an enzyme cleaner comes in.
I use an enzyme cleaner not just for accidents, but for everyday life too. It breaks down odors instead of covering them up, which matters when dogs live all over your floors.
Why enzyme cleaners are a must in our house:
- Break down odor-causing bacteria
- Safe for use around pets
- Helps prevent repeat marking
- Great for carpets, rugs, and hard floors
This is what we use 👉 Rocco & Roxie Supply Co. Stain & Strong Odor Eliminator
🧻 Dog Wipes for Quick Cleanups
Not every mess needs a full bath or mop.
Dog wipes are one of those small things that make a big difference — quick paw wipes after being outside, muddy faces, or a fast cleanup before cuddling on the couch.
Why we keep them handy:
- Easy paw, face, and coat cleanups
- Great between baths
- Help keep messes from spreading
This is what we use 👉Earth Rated Pet Wipes for Dogs and Cats
🧹 The Cordless Vacuum That Saves My Sanity
Dog hair is a lifestyle in this house.
This cordless vacuum gets used constantly — not because I love cleaning, but because it makes quick cleanups possible without turning into a whole production.
Why it works for us:
- Handles dog hair well
- Easy grab-and-go design
- Makes daily maintenance realistic
This is what we use 👉 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
❤️ Supporting the Humans Behind the Dogs
Here’s the part people don’t talk about enough:
Pitty moms and dads need support too.
Some days, that looks like:
- A hot cup of coffee before anyone needs anything
- A blanket on the couch while dogs pile on top of you
- Letting the house stay messy one more night
- Laughing instead of correcting every wild moment
You’re doing a lot — and that deserves grace.
🐾 Turning Chaos Into Connection
One of my favorite things about pitty life is how quickly chaos turns into love.
A wrestling match becomes a cuddle pile.
Zoomies turn into naps.
Wild play pauses so someone can check on Mom.
That’s not calm — that’s connection.
🐾 Final Thoughts: Messy, Loud, and Full of Love
Clean doesn’t mean perfect — and chaos is kind of our baseline.
Our house is busy, loud, and never truly tidy. There’s dog hair everywhere, toys scattered across the floor, and pups who play like it’s a full-contact sport. But it’s also full of laughter, loyalty, and the kind of love you don’t get from a spotless home.
That’s pitty mom life. You learn to embrace the mess, laugh through the madness, and turn everyday chaos into memories that matter.
When you finally sit down, drink in hand and dogs piled around you, remind yourself — this is love in its loudest, happiest form.
