🐾 Pitties & Patriots: Heroes Saving Heroes
Raising awareness for programs that unite veterans and rescue dogs — where compassion creates purpose
Our Mission
Every day, an estimated 22 veterans lose their lives to suicide. That number isn’t just a statistic — it’s sons, daughters, friends, and heroes who deserve hope, healing, and connection.
At Pitty Mom Hacks, we believe that sometimes healing has four paws, a heartbeat, and a wagging tail. Dogs have an incredible way of grounding us, pulling us back to the present, and reminding us that love and purpose still exist — even in our darkest moments.
Through Pitties & Patriots, our mission is to raise awareness and shine a light on programs that unite veterans and rescue dogs — partnerships that save two lives at once. When a veteran finds purpose again through a rescued companion, both hearts begin to heal.
This isn’t about charity; it’s about connection, understanding, and shared strength.
Because sometimes, the right dog doesn’t just change your life — they save it.
🐶 How It All Began
After losing Diesel — our rock-star old man who lived 16 incredible years — and Roadie, our spirited pitty girl who bravely fought cancer, our home suddenly felt too quiet. Their paw prints were everywhere, but the laughter was gone.
One Saturday, my husband and I agreed to adopt two tiny pitty puppies — Ruby and Dozer, just three weeks old. We drove home with grins on our faces, finally feeling that spark of hope again.
The very next day, while eating at the restaurant we used to take Roadie to, fate stepped in once more. A young girl and her mom were there with a tiny puppy named Daffodil. The family was facing health challenges and couldn’t keep her. They asked if we’d take her — and in that moment, we both knew it was meant to be.
A couple of weeks later, Ruby and Dozer joined the family, and the house came alive again — three wiggly puppies turning our grief into giggles.
What I didn’t know was that my own health was about to change, too. Just a few months later, I learned that I would need a service dog. Training my own pups became my lifeline. Every day, I saw firsthand how their loyalty, intuition, and love could steady me when nothing else could.
That’s where Pitties & Patriots was born — from loss, love, and the realization that veterans and rescue dogs heal each other in ways words can’t describe.
Through this mission, I’m not just sharing my story — I’m raising awareness for programs that connect heroes with heroes, one paw at a time. Because sometimes, healing starts with four paws and a heartbeat.
🦴 What We Stand For
🐾 Healing Through Connection
Love and purpose can save lives. I’ve seen it firsthand — the way a dog’s trust can rebuild confidence, calm anxiety, and bring peace to a heart that’s been through too much. The bond between a veteran and their dog isn’t just companionship — it’s therapy, it’s grounding, and it’s a reminder that we’re never truly alone. Healing doesn’t always come from words; sometimes it comes from four paws quietly sitting beside you.
🐾 Second Chances for Rescue Dogs
Every rescue dog deserves a mission and a home. So many amazing pitties are waiting in shelters, misunderstood because of their breed or their past. But these dogs have so much love to give — loyalty, forgiveness, and heart. Through awareness, we want people to see what I’ve seen: that the very dog who needed saving might just be the one who saves you.
🐾Support for Veterans
Our veterans have already given so much — and many continue to fight invisible battles long after their service ends. Through Pitties & Patriots, we stand with them by sharing stories, spreading awareness, and shining a light on organizations that pair veterans with trained service or emotional support dogs. Because sometimes, standing together starts with simply saying, we see you, we’re with you, and you’re not alone.
